Music is a powerful thing. Mothers sing lullabys to their babies to soothe them and rock them to sleep. Music has been used to keep rhythm when exercising, to make a person happy or sad, to calm or excite them and music can reduce stress.
How does music affect plants?
Everyone loves music! It surrounds us in our every day lives.You can hear the music of birds singing in the yard, music on the radio and music in movies. Music affects our moods whether we realize it or not. It also affects our plants.
Try this experiment: take 3 plants of the same species. Place each one in a separate room. Play classical music for one plant, rock music for another plant and no music for the third plant.Now watch them for a week and take notes on how each one is responding. What did you learn? Were you surprised?

Classical music from the baroque period has been shown to reduce the heart beat to relax with the music. Not all classical music does this.
When the body is relaxed the brain can concentrate and retains more information than when tense. Rhythm is important in music. Have you heard someone trying to keep in time with a song and they were off? It's a little irritating. The heart has a steady rhythm that changes according to your activity. If you're running your heart beats steadily faster to pump more blood and oxygen. When reading a book or doing a quiet activity the heart beats slower but still with a regular rhythm.
Scientific studies have shown that good music can increases endorphin production and lowers blood pressure. Premature babies have gained weight faster. Reduces the need for pain relievers. Music aids digestion. Music also aids in memory.
